My mum used to steam this all the time.

Prepare the mui choy the same way as this recipe except cut it smaller. Cut up your pork and marinate it with the usual - soy sauce, dash pepper, dash sugar, salt to taste, sesame oil, cornflour and some shao hsing wine. Chop some garlic. Mix the pork with the mui choy and steam.

Hope this helps.Sinnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03113180634503410140noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21839762.post-52048618503346762672012-04-21T03:33:55.785+12:002012-04-21T03:33:55.785+12:00Hi Sinner

It was a homemade dish prepared by my Cantonese paternal grandmother.

Since she passed away when I was really young, I didn't manage to have her transfer to me her recipe.

Would you happen to know a dish like this?

Eric VAILLIERhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04639494058087775510noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21839762.post-29053550852445352732009-02-10T20:55:00.000+13:002009-02-10T20:55:00.000+13:00Hi Vien,I soak it until the mui choy rehydrate its...Hi Vien,
I soak it until the mui choy rehydrate itself so you can easily wash all the sand off. Doesn't take too long.
A bit of work with this recipe but well worth it.
Happy cooking !Sinnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03113180634503410140noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21839762.post-894213987341546102009-02-09T22:13:00.000+13:002009-02-09T22:13:00.000+13:00Hi Sinner, this is what I will cook next.A questio...Hi Sinner, this is what I will cook next.A question pls...how long do you normally soak the salty mui choy. I purposely chose a piece of pork with only a very thin layer of fat, so the meal didn't turn out too oily or fattening.Sinnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03113180634503410140noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21839762.post-49307348806531716632007-06-25T12:02:00.000+12:002007-06-25T12:02:00.000+12:00Absolutely scrumptious!
